Theresa found her way into the education industry through educational media, beginning in sales\u00a0support\u00a0and later moving into consulting roles that worked directly with universities and public libraries. Early on, she was\u00a0closely involved\u00a0in coordinating conferences and supporting teams in bringing educational content to a wide range of audiences.<\/p>\n
After several years, Theresa reached a turning point and stepped into roles that focused more heavily on planning and execution, coordinating and ultimately leading national conferences, adoption campaigns, and large-scale meetings. Working across both K\u201312 and higher education, she built a long-standing career in events while remaining connected to mission-driven educational organizations.<\/p>\n
When a former colleague introduced her to Teaching Strategies, Theresa saw an opportunity to enter the early childhood education space for the first time. The role offered a fresh perspective on education and allowed her to connect her professional experience with a deeper understanding of the importance of learning in a child\u2019s earliest years.<\/p>\n
Recently, we asked Theresa to share more about her work history and what attracted her to Teaching Strategies.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
As\u00a0Director of Events, I work with my Event Coordinator, Makayla Miller, to handle corporate sponsorships, conferences,\u00a0and company-hosted events.<\/p>\n
The fun part of\u00a0working\u00a0Events is that it is never the same day to day,\u00a0and\u00a0the ability to pivot and change to amplify Teaching Strategies is key.\u00a0Generally,\u00a0though, my\u00a0day\u00a0involves\u00a0emails,\u00a0meetings, planning documentation, and spreadsheets. Events\u00a0works\u00a0cross-functionally with\u00a0a number of\u00a0colleagues across the company to build and execute successful programs.<\/p>\n
I am a leader who also rolls up her sleeves. I started my career at an entry-level position and worked my way up by learning each step, which allows me to relate to what my team needs and is experiencing. Having the ability to do the actual work and make my own mistakes along the way has helped me be a strong leader to those who work on my team and those who I work alongside.<\/p>\n
Leadership at Teaching Strategies supports my career growth through ongoing professional development opportunities.\u00a0I am encouraged to build new skills and deepen my knowledge in areas that align with both my current role and my long-term goals. The company\u00a0provides\u00a0learning opportunities that help me stay\u00a0up-to-date\u00a0in the work I do and\u00a0confident\u00a0in my future career growth.<\/p>\n
Leadership also creates a space for mentorship opportunities. Leaders take the time to listen, provide feedback, and help\u00a0identify\u00a0opportunities for growth.<\/p>\n
I am excited to continue the forward momentum created by the hard and tireless work of our talented teams. The ability to showcase and build environments for our customers to experience our newest products and offerings is an amazing piece of the puzzle that I am part of.<\/p>\n
I most look forward to elevating Teaching Strategies’ presence and partnership with colleagues I support across the company and customers we serve.
