I recently had the honour to collaborate with the amazing South African born metal embossing artist, Ninette Kruger, who is currently living in Tauranga, New Zealand with her family.
Ninette Kruger - Metal Embossing Artist*
In this collaboration, Ninette and I selected three of my 'Lace Collection' New Zealand Contemporary artworks, Fantail's Lace, Homegrown Lace and Tui's Lace. These artworks are a celebration of New Zealand and its beautiful flora and fauna. This artwork's lace depicts the delicate and intertwined relationship between New Zealand native birds and its habitat. New Zealand is the fabric of my being.

I initially drew them in ink pen and then lovingly transformed them into polished, digitally drawn artworks.
'Homegrown Lace' is my personal favourite as I drew it in my favourite drawing spot in Port Charles, nestled under the trees looking out over the bay at Mount Moehau. All I had was a blank bit of paper, drawing tools and a picturesque view for inspiration, and this came to me intuitively. I can remember vividly the sun on my face, salt air in my nose, sea and birds in my ears, and my family in my heart - I loved every minute of drawing 'Homegrown' in my ultimate happy place. That particular moment creating 'Homegrown Lace' has turned into something even more beautiful. It has taken on even more significance though my collaboration with Ninette and the friendship that has blossomed between us during there unprecedented times in history.
